What it costs to run
Very little in hosting and a great deal in reading. The site is static, so serving it is close to free. The expensive part is the work behind the numbers: finding a primary study for a country, checking what it actually measured, and deciding it does not qualify — which is the outcome most of the time. 23 countries are in the game and the searching that produced them covered many more.
That is the part money buys here. Not servers.
Ways to help that cost nothing
Honestly the most valuable ones.
- Send a correction. If a figure is wrong, or you can point at a primary study for a country that has none, that is worth more than a donation. The dataset lists which rows have a resolvable source and which do not. Get in touch.
- Cite the data. It is published under a licence that permits it precisely so that it can displace the fabricated figures that circulate instead.
- Tell someone who would find it useful. A link from a person beats anything that can be bought.
What money does not buy
Nothing on this site is for sale to the people it is about. No sponsored figure, no paid placement inside the data, no advertiser influence over what a country's number says or which studies are cited. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on this page before it happens, not after.
Advertising is served by Google AdSense and is bounded on purpose: never during play, never mid-article. Where your data goes and how to refuse it is set out in the privacy policy, and the consent controls are reachable from every page.
